The world of space is endless. There are many such stars in it, about which we do not know. When the American space agency NASA tells us about these, we are surprised. The agency has again seen such information. NASA has discovered an exoplanet made of diamond using the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). Its width is approximately twice that of Earth and its weight is approximately nine times that of our planet.
According to the information shared by NASA, this planet is known as 55 Canary E. It is located about 41 light years away from our solar system. Astronomers believe that this planet is covered with hot lava and this happened when its star destroyed its first atmosphere. It is believed that this planet is completely made of diamonds. Scientists have classified it as a super earth. Super Earths are those which are larger than Earth, but lighter than planets like Neptune and Uranus.
quite dense and made of carbon
This exoplanet is quite dense. Therefore, astronomers estimate that it is made of carbon, in which diamonds are hidden. This planet is also 2.3 million kilometers away from 55 Cancri A, a star like the Sun. This distance is 0.01544 times the distance between the Earth and the Sun. It revolves around its star in about 17 hours. The temperature of its hot surface is about 2,400 degrees Celsius. New research indicates that there is a thick layer of gases around this planet. That means it has developed another environment. However, scientists could not know how this happened?
The planet has enough atmosphere
Renyu Hu, a member of the research team and researcher at the California Institute of Technology, said, we measured the thermal emission of this rocky planet. There are indications that it has sufficient atmosphere. This is probably due to gases escaping from the rocky interior of 55 Cancri e. It is quite exciting to know about it. 55 Cancri E was discovered in 2004. Originally known as Janssen, it was the world’s first super-Earth orbiting a distant main sequence star. That is, a star which is still converting hydrogen into helium in its core.
